Little Goth Action Hero
I confess...I am hooked on The Amazing Race. If you're not familiar with this TV show, you can find it here. There are so many, many comparisons to life in this reality show that I don't really know where to start. Jim and I watch this together and talk about how we would run the race and not fight. We're convinced we could win because we wouldn't make the same mistakes the other teams have made.
The object of the game is to work in two person teams to navigate through towns/cities/rural areas to find clues. There are times when the team has to work together to complete a task or other times when one member of the team must complete a task on their own.
We have had so much fun watching this together. The people on this show say some of the funniest things...hence the title of this post. One team is a Goth couple, Kynt and Vxysin, that pride themselves on being different. In this last episode, the Goth team was performing a task where each had scale the side of a building by climbing up a ladder that was hung from the top of the building and wasn't connected at the bottom. Vxysin was first to scale the wall. As Kynt was climbing, Vxysin called down to Kynt and said he was like a "little Goth action hero." I laughed so hard I nearly fell out of my chair.
Another team is comprised of a grandfather and grandson, Donald and Nicolas. While they argue occasionally, one of the coolest things is how Nicolas takes care of his grandfather. Any time they are in a foot race with other teams, Nicolas will put his pack on his back and his grandfather's pack on his front. True, he knows to beat the other teams he's got to do more than his share but I think he does it because he knows it's the right thing to do.
As for the comparisons to life...consider this:

As for the comparisons to life...consider this:
- We are all running a race (Acts 20:24, 1 Corinthians 9:24, Galatians 2:2, Hebrews 12:1).
- Some race well; some do not (2 Timothy 4:7, Galatians 5:7).
- Just when you think things are going well, the stakes turn so we must always be on our guard (Ephesians 6:11).
- Cooperation and teamwork are essential for success (Ephesians 4:16).
